  • Hot Melt Process

Hot Melt is a process used by the pro golfers to get the ultimate results from their drivers. This process isn't used by many builders as the tour doesn't discuss it when discussing swings or "how they can hit like that."

Hot Melt is a process wherein weight can be inserted into a driver head to attain a predetermined swing weight. This weight can be positioned where it can produce a Fade, or draw bias, as well as raise or lower the trajectory of the shot. The hot melt can be moved to change the club as the player changes their swing any time but can not be removed once inserted. For example, if a driver is 46.0 inches long with a graphite shaft, then cut down to 45 inches, the swing weight drops approximately 6 swing points. To get the swing weight back using lead tape, you would have to add 12 grams of tape to the outside of the driver head, making it unsitely and hard at times to place exactly where it needs to be.

Manufacturers have developed lighter graphite shafts to keep a desirable swing weight but must make them longer making them more difficult for the average player to keep control of the shot. Hot Melt can correct this problem.

  • SWING WEIGHTING

Swing WeightingSwing Weighting is a really unique process that involves a specialized lead tape and close attention to detail. Steve will take the time to watch, evaluate your swing, and discuss how your swing feels based on the adjustments that are made with the tape after each and every swing. This helps Steve fine-tune your club during a fitting and weight it to your preference.

  • LOFT / LIE FITTING & ADJUSTMENT

Lie angle in a golf club is the relationship of the hosel angle to the sole of the club. Golf clubs, because they have loft & lie, have a compound angle. The more loft the greater the angle. If a club is upright at impact, the ball will go left no matter how square you hold the head. If the lie is to flat, the ball will go right. Proper lie angle will also affect whether you hit the shot off center.

It is a myth that the ball goes left when the club is to upright, because the heel of the club hits the ground first causing the toe to rotate left; or the toe hits first if the club is to flat. Lie angle should be adjusted on each club individually, not set in a sequence from checking only one club.

Loft is set by each club manufacturer and can vary between companies. The loft between clubs is set in a progressive patten. This also varys between companies. The question becomes this; is the loft & gap between each club correct for you? Some may have the correct yardage between clubs with a 4 degree loft difference but other clubs may do better with a 5 degree difference.
